An alternative to WAVE.
pagehaul's teardown is not a replacement for WAVE, and for an accessibility review WAVE is the better tool. The teardown is an alternative when accessibility is one part of a wider critique: it measures colour contrast against WCAG and tap targets alongside the design, speed, mobile, SEO and conversion signals, and writes the whole thing up as a report you can send.
01What WAVE is
WAVE is a suite of web accessibility evaluation tools from WebAIM at Utah State University, available as an online tool, browser extensions and an API. It identifies accessibility and WCAG errors and supports human evaluation of a page.
Read from its own site on 1 October 2026. If it has changed since, tell us and this page will too.
